nicholas o'toole – associate
Originally from Nova Scotia, Nicholas obtained a Bachelor of Arts with a major in philosophy from Dalhousie University before obtaining a Juris Doctor degree from the same university. He articled with Actus Law Droit for one year prior to joining the firm as a full-time associate following his call to the New Brunswick bar in June 2015.
His degree in philosophy fostered a passion for problem-solving. Therefore, law seemed like a natural transition because it requires the same kind of problem-solving, except it can be applied to the real world in a way that can help people. Nicholas was a member of the dean’s list during his undergraduate studies and was an editor-in-chief of the Dalhousie Journal of Legal Studies. He also worked at the Dalhousie Legal Aid Service, a community-based office which provides both clinical experience to third-year law students and legal services to those who would not otherwise be able to afford legal advice or assistance. He was also involved with Pro Bono Students Canada and the Canadian Bar Association. Nicholas’ practice has a focus on civil litigation, family law and wills and estates.
Currently, he is a board member of the John Howard Society of Southeastern New Brunswick and the Boys and Girls Club of Riverview.
Nicholas lives in Moncton with his wife and in his spare time, he enjoys fitness, travel and spending time with family.
